New Beginnings

Hello my darlings!
How fast the summer is flying by! I really can´t believe it´s almost September. Que triste...just to let you know...I will be taking a short break from writing the blog while working on a new project. Check in from time to time for an update!
Enjoy the last days of summer!

Ikea, not for the Faint of Heart

Hey you all!
I bet you thought I forgot about you, but I haven't! Don't you worry... I think about you all the time! The truth is...I've been in Betty Ford (the bar that is) for those of you who haven't been there, it's in the raval, across the street from the Manchester. I kind of like the place, it's a very hipster crowd (young and too cool for school in some cases). The drinks are enormous and at times seem a bit overwhelming, especially if you're itching to change venues, but a great bargain at 5 euros each! I also checked out a few other places I haven't frequented in the past such as: The Republic on Sant Joan, where I almost kicked ass in a trivia quiz (key word ALMOST) and this place called the Flamingo that is very often frequented by Swedish Folks.
I also spent a very large amount of time ultimamente in the wonder that is Ikea. Who doesn't have a love hate relationship with that place? You tell me! The staff are pretty unhelpful, except those at the end of the long line in the info station and hello you have to carry and then assemble your own stuff. Anyway I've had to spend the last 2 days in yoga classes and massage parlors!
This week is a quiet one...I'm actually working on a project, which I'll let you know about as soon as possible. I also am preparing for the arrival of some very great, fun friends from the U.S. who are arriving next week.
Tomorrow I'll let you know the lineup for the weekend!
Hope you didn't miss me too much (though I secretly hope you did)!!

Another Summer Day

What a great day!
So last night was a blast...the cosmos were fantabulous and the company even better. We stayed up long into the night contemplating the lives of others aka gossiping!
Today I had a slight hangover, but thanks to a delicious frappacino, got over it quite quickly. I met this very cute British boy I know for lunch, which turned out to be horrifying (don't go to this place called Salta). The food was overcooked, salty and the meat chewy beyond words!
I felt like I had done my body a disservice and quickly headed to the gym to correct the damage. I took a fantastic Pilates class and left feeling sooo much better.

Tonight I had a couple of friends over for dinner and now we're heading to Powder Room at the Apolo! I haven't been there in ages and there is no better night to go than Thursday. The music's funky and danceable...what more could you ask for?

Maybe see you there?

The lost days of Summer

The last weeks of August seem to just roll together. One day turns to another without my having realized it. I've just been out and about these past few days...catching up with friends I haven't seen in a while and kind of enjoying the fact that almost everyone I know is out of the city.
so last night I ended up in Gracia, yet again! You'd think I'm turning into a hippy, but don't you worry, I'm not...I just happen to have quite a few friends who are and who live in Gracia. So last night I met up with one of my old roommates to discuss our trip to Ibiza and Formentera! We're going on the Puente in September...and I have to tell you Formentera is one of the most difficult vacations I've ever had to book. For 1 there are hardly any hotels and nothing has a web site so I've been making phone calls. One place wouldn't even tell me if they had any rooms until I sent a fax! Can you imagine in this day in age...A FAX!
Well anyway, we figured it all out and the trip will be (fingers crossed) amazing!

Tonight I'm meeting up with some girlfriends for cosmos and a rehash of all six seasons of Sex and the City! I think I've seen the whole series more than 3 times, but have never gotten sick of it.

Talk to you soon!

You Are Out

What a funny, funny weekend!
I spent the majority of the days lounging about on the beach. I've attached some ok photos of Badalona beach to give you an idea of what I'm talking about all the time.
On Saturday night I ended up at Sidecar (pronounced Siday Car by the locals), I went there a few times when I first arrived to Barcelona, but gave it up for a time because of the complete lack of airflow...that hasn't changed, but either has the music, which is sooooo fun to dance to (you know Brit favorites).
After Sidecar we all ended up at an after hours club, which I couldn't give you the location of if I tried; but it's somewhere near Plaza Tripi.
Today was pretty mellow...more beach and some delicious tapas at Cal Pep in the Borne.
Tonight I'm staying home to watch PROJECT RUNWAY!!!
I had no idea the current season had started (thank the lord for youtube!!!)

Hope you all have a great night!

Mullets & Mojawks

Hi there!
So the Gracia Festival was kind of disappointing this year. It seemed to me that fewer streets were decorated, and those that were weren't up to par with last year's display. It was still fun though! I especially enjoyed checking out the fashion that goes on up there. I have to say, I think I saw more mullets and mojawks than I have in my entire life. I really wonder where the fashion sense comes from in Gracia...if someone knows, then please fill me in.
Here are some photos of the best streets:

Tonight I'm hitting the town...no real plans, just going to enjoy the summer ambiance.
Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend!!

Mission Wild Weekend

Ok so let's here a collective YAAA for the long weekend!
My friends are in town from England, we have the Gracia Festival and countless parties to choose from!!
Tonight I'm meeting up with my friend Nico + a bunch of others for tapas at the Cerveceria Catalana...then we're off for drinks in the Borne...probably at El Copetin or some place along the passeig y luego straight to Opium to get this party started off right! I foresee a lazy day on the beach (weather permiting) then fiesta fiesta in Gracia!
If you all hadn't noticed, I've decided to add pictures to the blog...so needless to say (or perhaps necessary) photos to follow!

Comfort Food and Old Movies

So I thought last night was going to be relatively quiet and I guess it kind of was. I met up at CaraBella with a new friend who just moved to town from London. We ended up drinking a Jarra of sangria between the two of us and ended up more than a little tipsy. It was a blast. I don't think I've laughed that much in ages!
Needless to say I didn't feel so hot today and welcomed the cloudy weather with open arms. I spent much of the day watching OLD episodes of Felicity and then finished by watching Risky Business (Tom Cruise used to be soooo cute) What has happened to that man...damn scientology.
So tonight I got take out from a little Argentinian place around the corner and now I'm heading to the camita. I think this may be the earliest night in a while! And by A LOT!!
I have to rest up for the long weekend. I have tons of friends coming into town and it's the Gracia Festival! I can't wait to see what designs the streets have come up with this year, as last year was a little disappointing.

Que Suenes con los angelitos!

Barcelona town is Burning down

Hot hotty HHHOT!
How are you getting along in this god awful heat? I for one am melting...Thank the Lord for swimming pools and the beautiful (sometimes jellyfish infested) waters of the Med. I have turned into a mermaid. Not a day has gone by that I haven't passed at least half of semi- submerged.

About the party Friday night... Broadbar is a very cool space I must say and I hear the food isn't half bad, but the DJ on Friday night was atrocious! I don't know why everyone in this city has this fascination with house music...I for one love, love, love me some funky beats! Oh well, I got my dance on after Broadbar at Otto Zutz and I have to tell you that I have a new found amor for that place, at least the up up stairs bit, where they have air conditioning...the rest has good music, but is swarming with sweaty, groping horndogs (hahaha I don't think I've used that word, well...ever!). In any event, I'll be hitting up O.Z. a bit more often as the fall comes on.

This week will be kind of quiet...the main goal is to try and keep cool and maybe watch some of the Olympics...I'm such a sucker for gymnastics and diving!

Hope you're all enjoying your holidays or whatnot!!

Go Car Go

I had the most ridiculously fun day! I went on one of those go-cars...you know those funny little, yellow, three wheeled vehicles you see zooming around Barcelona from time to time. They are amazing...I want one and I want to paint it pink! We zipped all around town and even stopped for ice-cream down in the Barceloneta. I absolutely love doing touristy things...anyway the vacation at home continues with the arrival of two of my Swedish friends...I'm seeing a lot of beach in my near future.
Tonight will be fabu at the Gran Foc Lounge. Every Thursday they have this great jazz band, a special 15 euro menu and then some cool DJs. It's a once stop tour de force...at least until 3 when it closes. I think we're actually going to skip Opium tonight cause tomorrow is.....Broadbar!
It'll be a busy next few days!! Can't wait!

The Week according to VIParina

This week is shaping up quite nicely, if I do say so myself!
I've been hitting up Holmes Place everyday with my friend Megan, then...straight to the playa. I have such a busy party schedule this week!! Tonight is Shoko, tomorrow I have a dinner party on my friend's lovely terrace. Then Thursday I'm hitting up El Gran Foc Lounge to hear some DJs before heading off to Opium Mar. Then Friday....drum roll please...BROADBAR! That's right, for those of you who were there a few weeks ago, you know how amazing that place can be! With the right people and music it is one of the best places in Barcelona.
So anyway...I'll let you know how everything is shaping up tomorrow!
Have a good night and maybe see you at Shoko?

Margarita for me, Margarita for you

Hello hello hellllllooooo!
I hope you all had as fantabulous a weekend as I did! What'd you do?
So as I told you on Friday, my plan was Terrrazza and it was incredible. It felt like all of Barcelona was there! At least all of the beautiful, amazing crazies that make this city what it is!!
Then Saturday I slept like a little angel almost the entire day...not too long though. I caught the last rays of the day in Badalona of all places. Did you know Badalona may be one of the ugliest places on the planet architecture wise, but they have some gorgeous beaches and mucho less people than in the city. So if you don't want to venture too far in train...I suggest Badalona. They may not have all of the amenities you're used to...like chairs and umbrellas, but if you have a nice, strong man to carry these along... all is good.
So Saturday night I ended up at Opium Mar (can't resist the terrace by the Med). Then Sunday I had to let Marishka in on the AMAZING tradition that is Paella by the Playita on a lazy Sunday. We ate at Escriba, which is above Bogatell beach, I believe, and they know how to do a paella right...mmmm mmm mmm.
The feading frenzy carried right on into Monday with Margarita Monday. I had the Chalupas, which were...well...de- lic-ious! Stop by La Trajinera if you want to try them...and I must say the strong air conditioning is very very welcome!!
Well mis amores...try and keep cool!!
Talk to you tomorrow!

Holy Summer Vacation

With Summer Vaca in full swing I'm finding it more and more difficult to be my usual disciplined, hard working self in respect to the blog...hahaha...Marishka and I have been out and about this week. I've made it my personal mission to show her every side of this amazing city. We've seen about every tourist site and gone to every club that's worth frequenting and that's just in the past two days! We actually hit up the Travel Bound bike tour, which is something that I never thought I would do. It was a lot of fun though and pretty damn informative. Unfortunately though, the bike tour messed up my tan...I now have lines!!! (GASP) We also saw Parc Guell, my personal top tourist spot in Barcelona and had a lovely picnic with 2 bottles of cava. Yesterday was mostly beach and shopping day. We found a lot of really cute stuff in the shops on Avinyon...check them out if you get a chance.
So tonight....it's Terrrazza!!! I can't wait to show her. First though, we're going to get some drinks at DosTrece in the Raval, cause tonight they have some great DJs in.
Tomorrow...sleep sleep sleep and then beach beach beach!

Smarter than the Average Bear

What a faboo day!
I woke up early for once and met my friend Marishka who flew in from NYC. She gave me all the latest goss about our ridiculous friends on the cab ride home. I knew she was exhausted, but insisted she go to this amazing yoga class with me (she's a yogi too). Then we had a fabulous lunch at La Academia in Plaza Sant Just before heading to the playita to catch the less harmful l rays of the day...and can you believe it...we came home and fell asleep until now!
No rest (or dinner for that matter) for that weary chicatita...I'm draggin her ass to Shoko! She's heard about it enough and now she's gonna have to experience what all the hype is about! I think we may try and sleep in tomorrow...but I just can't wait to show her the town. After all my friends, I may be the queen of the nightlife, but I also know how to enjoy this amazing city by day...
Come what may!

August Heat Here We Come!

Good evening mis amores!
How was your weekend? Mine was absolutely divine!! I spent the majority of it lounging on beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava. I kind of prefer the rocks to sand, cause it isn't so dirty and sticky.
Friday night I had a dinner party on the terrace and was complemented excessively on my cooking...if only they knew how rarely I do it. I have to say I prefer restaurants. Food just doesn't taste as good after you've slaved over a hot stove.hahaha. De vez en cuando I don't mind it too much.
Saturday we took off for the beach and we spent the night at the beautiful Parador in Aigua Blava. I highly recommend it. It has the most beautiful views and the breakfast buffet is phenomenal!
On Sunday we hit up Cadaques and ate the most delicious seafood platter at this little hole in the wall by the beach.
Bronzed and mas bonita we returned to Barcelona and had some sushi at Kibuka. mmmm it had been far too long.
Anyways today I got a mani-pedi and a massage at the pink Peony. You know after such a tough weekend I thought I deserved a bit of pampering...hahaha.
Tonight I'm going to meet my friend Valentina at Guru BCN for a couple of copas de cava. Then most likely come home early for a nice rest. The massage and the sun really tired me out. August is almost here and we all know how hot it can actually get!

Art in the Barrio

Mmmm, lunch at Ra was delicious especially after my very challenging yoga class! Afterwards I passed by the Gracia Arts Project, which funnily enough is in the Gotico! It's such a cool idea I must say...they have a new exhibition of different local artists every two weeks! Right now there's a photography show up that I have somewhat mixed feelings about. Some of the photos were amazing and others...eh, not so great. Oh well, I guess art is objective...
Just had some scrumptious pan con tomate and jamon in the casa and now about to beautify myself for Opium tonight. Let's hope it lives up to the hype! I hear it's supposed to be especially hoppin tonight.
Maybe I'll see you there!

The Bronzed and the Beautiful

Hello my darlings,
Shoko was as fabulous as ever last night. So many people to see and be seen by! I love summer in Barcelona. All the beautiful, perfectly bronzed specimens seem to flock here. There's no end to the fun.
So as you can imagine I spent most of my day on the beach soaking in the rays. I ate some delicious jamon with melon at one of the chiringitos on Icaria beach and followed the meal with a few tasty mojitos at Guru BCN in the gotico.
And now...
I have to admit...I've been addicted to this show The Tudors...I think it plays on Show Time in the states, but I've been streaming it for the past couple of days...and today, well... what can I say, time escaped me. Hey, a party girl needs to indulge in some lazy habits once in a while.
If you get a chance...watch it, it's horribly sordid and indulgent. Best of all, based in reality!

Tomorrow...Yoga in the morning, lunch at Ra, which is next to the Boqueria with, then a short rest before I Opium Mar it up!

Sweet dreams to all those off to bed...and happy partying to those who, well...who are gonna rock it out!

A Weekend of Madness

The Verve went on! It was a fantastic show and night and weekend!! I ended up at Summer Case the whole of the weekend...the hightlights were definitely The Verve, The Kings of Leon, Blondie (of course) and Too Many DJs. This prissy girl might be coming around to the festival life...though I think this may have been an isolated experience...it makes it a lot better to be able to return to your comfy bed and take a long, long...long shower.
I spent yesterday basically recovering from the weekend...got a massage at the Six Senses Spa at the Arts and then met up with amigos for Margarita Monday.
So one day off...now back to the party! Tonight...Shoko!
If anyone wants to join, just tell them you're on VIParina's list at the door.

Have a divine night!!

Summercase, Here comes VIParina!

Hello my darlings!
I'm late I'm late for a very important date with SummerCase! I heard yesterday that The Verve has canceled which is such a pity. I've never actually seen them live and hear they put on an amazing show. Oh well...the rest of the lineup seems pretty good. I'm really exited to see Blondie perform!
Today I took it pretty slow as I am much more of a club hopper than a festival rat...to say the least. The hoards of people, the long lines for drinks and the sweatiness are not exactly my style, but I have a friend working on getting some backstage passes so we'll see what happens.

I hope you all have an amazing night! Wherever it may take you...

Art, Architecture and VINO

So tonight took a bit of a turn... as I told you yesterday, I was off to an art exhibition at La Galeria Ignacio de Lassaletta. It was a really wonderful affair... beautiful art, interesting people and a delicious meal that followed with the gallery directors at the Polo Club of Barcelona. I'd never been there before, but the food was quite alright.
I'm just stopping home briefly to change la ropa and then I'm heading down to Opium to get my groove on.
Tomorrow... I think I might choose Summercase. Apparently the Verve have canceled which is....well, it just really sucks, but oh well...I guess there are others to see.
So tomorrow concerts...then maybe the Costa Brava for the weekend...I just don't know. Way too many choices.
I love Barcelona!

Un Dia Sin Mucha Movida

No Celebrities last night...boohoo...who knows there probably was someone escondido at Shoko last night. Oh and by the way, the food at Sikkim is DE-licious...check it out if you get the chance.
Today was relaxing...sometimes I like it when it's cloudy cause it gives me an excuse to lay about the house...so that's what I did.
Tonight, as I told you on Monday, I'm going to Guru lounge with some friends...you know, just to chat and have a couple of mojitos or something...emphasis on the something cause every time I'm there I end up mixing way too much as their cocktail is extensive and intriguing.
That's all for today... Tomorrow I am attending an art exhibit at La Galeria de Lassaletta and I want to be bright and fresh.
Hope you all have a fantabulous night!

It´s a Churrasco!

Last night was so much fun! Bittersweet really...I love Barcelona to death, but it seems mis amigos are forever joining and then leaving me. Last night I went to my Brazilian friend´s going away do. The Brazilians threw her a massive Churrasco (Brazilian Barbecue) and the food was INCREDIBLE. Brazilians really know how to live La Dulce Vita...Mojitos, Bossanova, beach and Barbecues.
Today I actually got up quite early and made it to a yoga class at Holmes place. I´ve really been slacking on the old gym. It´s just soooo difficult in the summer. Why leave the beach?
Then it was off to lunch on the terrace of Nonell. I have some friends staying at the hotel Cathedral just across the way so after lunch we made are way up to the roof top pool for a bit of fun in da sun!
So now I´m getting ready for dinner at Sikkim...I´m actually running a bit late.
Then it´s SHOKO...maybe  there´ll be another celebrity sighting tonight! Let´s hope so....i´ll keep you informed.

Have a good one and maybe see you later!

The Week of Fiesta

Hey y'all! Sorry I didn't get a chance to write this weekend. I was recovering from the amazing party I had at Broadbar. It was so much fun. All my friends were there and we rocked out in the VIP all night! Afterwards we made our way over to Otto Zutz to continue the party. I really wanted to go to Terrrassa, but was vetoed by the masses. I have to say...Otto Zutz is far too hot and crowded.
Here is my itinerary for the week. I figure since I have it pretty much planned out I should let you all in on what is happenin this week.
Monday- sorry you can't join...My friend Lara from Brazil is leaving Barcelona. It's so sad when people go...but seems to be inevitable.
Tuesday- I'm eating at Sikkim, this delicious restaurant in the Borne where they give you a free chocolate fondue dessert if you make a reservation...then off to Shiny Tuesday @ Shoko.
Wednesday- Meeting friends for a relatively quiet night at Guru in the Gotico, not the Raval.
Thursday-Beach day and night at the Chiringito Vai Moana on Bogatell beach for dinner...then... OPIUM!!
Friday- I think I'll make it fashion tv @ Pacha. If you want VIP entrance just ask.
Saturday-It's been a while since I hit up the Hidden Eden party @ Elephant so...we'll see what happens there.
So there it is...man do I lead a hectic life. Being an international it girl certainly has become a full time job. Well off to the going away gig.

The Day of the Fiesta

Party Party Party Parteeeee!!
I'm so excited for my party tonight at Broadbar! It's going to be so much fun!! I have friends flying in from all over Europe to attend. All day has been dedicated to last minute planning and more importantly...to beautifying myself. I stopped at the Pink Peony rather early to get my mani-pedi. It's been awful waiting all week to get my nails done, but I wanted them to be perfect for this event. Next I met a friend for sushi at Kibuka. You must always eat light on the day of a party so as not to feel bloated and sleepy. Sushi is perfect for this...I recommend it highly. Now I'm off to this new place I just found out about called The Celebrities' Hair and Make-Up Salon. It's on Mallorca and someone mentioned that they have really great service. We'll see. I have to run!! I'll tell you all about it tomorrow...

The Terrace Life

Was anyone else at Shoko Tuesday night? Did you also see Lenny Kravitz? Oh my my he is just as scrumptious in person as I'd imagined! So as you can imagine, that has been the highlight of my week thus far. Yesterday was quite relaxed...well kind of...I had a marathon shopping day. I really can't tell you what store I did not enter. I will tell you, however, that I got some super cute dresses/tops at Custo Barcelona. Later in the day I ended up outside of the city in this lovely little one-traffic light town called Torrellas (sp). I have some friends who have recently moved there, so we met for dinner on their terrace.
Today was a bit more shopping...lunch at Mama's Cafe in the Raval with my friend Lara, followed by some beach time...then some cava on the terrace of another friend.
Tonight I'm taking it easy, because tomorrow is....drumroll.... Evolutionary Nights at Broadbar. I have made sure to invite all my fabulous friends and it promises to be an epic affair. If you wanna come just let me know...or you could just say you're with me at the door. "I'm with VIParina" haha you'd be amazed where it'll get you.
Anyway, I'm resting up tonight. Tomorrow will be all the preparations for the big party!
Catch ya later!

An Extra Long Weekend

Have so many days gone by already since I wrote my last entry? I can't believe it...but I have a good excuse. One of my best friends in the world flew in from South Africa as a surprise! I haven't seen her in almost 2 years and we quickly got out of the city and headed to Cadaques for a bit of fun in the sun! We ate some incredible seafood and soaked in the hot summer sun on the beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava. I don't mind Bogatell beach and all, but sometimes you just have to make your way to cleaner waters.
So now back to my busy schedule of partying and socializing. It's nice to take a break from it for awhile...but only long enough that I can no longer stand being away. So tonight I'm hitting up Shoko.
I don't have plans...yet for the rest of the days, except Friday, when I will be hosting an amazing party at Broadbar! It's going to be off the hizzle I tell ya. All the hotties in Barcelona under 1 roof. At least everyone who isn't going to Pamplona.
More deets on that later this week.
For now...I'm off!

Pan con Mantequilla

2nd day of BBB...
Has everyone seen all the ultra fashion conscious peeps walking around? I have to say there are some very interesting ensembles being worn...and when I say interesting...I mean UGLY!!
So today started off nicely...I hit up the gym before heading to the tradeshow for a bit of browsing. Then came lunch with my fabulous friend Allegra who's in town for BBB. We ate at this adorable little place in the Gotico, Cafe Babel. Then we did the unimaginable and hit up the sales. After the first day, I swore I wouldn't put myself through the chaos again...but, oh well...what can I say...there is cute stuff to be had!
Tonight I'm hitting up Mix, in the Borne, then if I have the energy to Opium Mar. I might save my energy for tomorrow night though!
Happy partying!!

Bread, Butter and Bastante Gente

Well..Bread and Butter has begun (how's that for illiteration?) The trade show part is as hectic as always...so many people to see and be seen by. The party-part is what I live for...How to choose which party to show up at? It's the question on every VIPs mind these few days. I, for example am completely up in the air...Will I go to Shoko for the Indian Rose party? or Opium for the Colcci party...mmmm...I choose both!
Ok party people and fashion lovers...hope you can make it too. I have to go make myself pretty now...this heat is making it very difficult to maintain my flawless, shine free complexion!

Rebajas Rebajas Rebajas

How can so many fabulous things happen at the same time? Bread and Butter comes to town, the weather becomes fantastic (hot, yes, but perfect for the beach!) and Rebajas (sales) begin!! Granted it's actually a horrible process of trying to snatch up the best items while being body slammed by other greedy shoppers, but it's tradition! I mean...I don't really need to wait for the sales, but when they come around I just can't resist them.
So I guess you don't have to ask me what I was up to today!
I hit the stores...then the beach and now I'm going to rest up for the mayhem that is Bread and Butter!
Don't forget to get your beauty sleep!!

Viva EspaƱa!!

How about that party on the street last night! I went into the center to witness the craziness after the game...after barely escaping death by moto more than a few times I hung out with some friends in Plaza Reial. Today was spent getting prepared for Bread and Butter, which starts this Wednesday! I went to get a facial and mani-pedi. Then lunch at Bliss with a few friends. Tonight I´m finally going to make of for the lack of sleep of the last week.
How amazing is summertime in Barcelona?! Always something to do or prepare for!!! So this week is Bread and Butter, which brings all the most fashionable people in Europe to the most fashionable city in Spain!
Parties, Parties, Parties...
Have a wonderful night and VIVA ESPAƑA!!

Bikinis and Bocadillos

Hello my darlings,
I've had a lovely day! How about you? Mine started out with a yoga class, then I met a Brazilian friend of mine and we went to this new Italian sandwich shop kind of thingy. It's called...oh my...I can't remember. Anyways, they make a really tasty sandwich/quesadilla. I had mine with serrano ham, mozzarella (super fresh and delicious) and fantastically vine ripened tomatoes. So after that tasty meal, we headed to the beach to catch the late day rays. As we were talking about what constitutes a Brazilian bikini, she remembered that her friend had just brought a bunch of them back from Brazil. So I ended up getting the cutest, teensy tiniest bikini I think I have ever seen.
Tonight should be fun... I'm just meeting up with the Brazilians again and I think we'll have a few drinks in the Gotico, before heading up to Terrrassa. Oh...and tomorrow I'm going to the Jack Johnson concert.
Hope your night turns out to be VIP arific! hehehe

San Joan and Such

Has it really been that long since I last wrote? I can't believe it. I guess you could say I took a vacation from my vacation. In any event the last few days all kind of blend together as they do during San Joan. Tuesday was fantastic. I went to a friend's terrace which is directly on the beach in the Barceloneta. We ended up drinking calimochos, which in case any of you have not imbibed, leads to a really fun night, but later a horrible, horrible hang over. So that's what I was up to yesterday. I'm back on track now, don't you worry! Tonight I might take it a bit easy, then tomorrow night I'm back on the town. I'll hit up Opium Mar tomorrow night, then I believe Foc Lounge this Friday for this new party they're calling "evolutionary nights".
Have a wonderful night everybody and I hope you don't melt!!

The best way to wreck a manicure

What are your plans for this hot summer night? I think I might head up to Terrrassa to take full advantage of this glorious weather. Granted it was a little bit scorching today, but hey, I'm not going to complain. And anyways I had a fabulous day. I went to the Pink Peony for a mani-pedi which I then promptly destroyed by spending the rest of the afternoon at the beach. Sand and salt water may be all good for exfoliating the skin, but it sure does a number on nails. So I just soaked in the sun and relaxed all day...had some tasty melon con jamon for lunch at Chiringito Vai Moana, then tapas in the Borne at Cal Pep for dinner.
I think I might get a little nap before heading out tonight. The heat sure takes it out of me!

Here's to the Longest Day of the Year!

Hello mis amores!
What a beautiful day! It's the summer solstice you know. So...cheers to the longest day of the year and I hope it is wonderful for everybody!! I have had a fabulous day so far...I somehow avoided the hangover I deserved from Opium last night and got up at around 11 and headed straight for the beach. Then I met my friend Theresa for one of those really long Barcelona lunches. We hit up a few really cute shops in the Raval, including this really hip place called Blow on C/ Doctor Dou and I picked up some ultra-sexy vintage sunglasses.
Tonight should be quite fun and a bit sad at the same time as I'm heading to the going away party of one of my good friends. We actually met in the Barcelona airport while waiting for the same horribly delayed flight to Paris. I hate saying goodbye, but the party should be great.
Tomorrow....more beach, more sun, more sangria and a whole lot more fun!!!
Happy summer!!!

Champagne and Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice

What a fun week this is turning out to be! The weather is finally...finally straightening itself out and the parties are better than ever! I had a fabulous time last night at Shoko and so many of my friends joined in for the fun! I ended up skipping the party at Mondo, Hardfandango nights, and calling it a relatively early night. Today was all I could have wished for I woke up at around 11 made my way down to the Barceloneta for a few mimosas and a seafood platter with some friends in from London. Then we hit the playa for a few hours and I ended up taking a little siesta. I was a bit drowsy when I woke, but forced myself to hit up the Vinyasa Yoga class at Holmes place and I am so happy I did cause now I feel energized and raring to go! Tonight I´m going to take it relatively easy and stop by Andu for a couple with my friend Megan. Then tomorrow....Opium!!
Ok my loves,
Sweet dreams or happy partying, whatever you prefer!

Sonar!!

Hey everybody!
This is going to be such a huge, fantabulous week! As you know, it's Sonar and that means every club, restaurant and venue will be packed with fabulous people from all over the planet. This is one of the times that VIParina lives for. Tonight will be mellow...I'm heading to Margarita Monday at La Trajinera to meet up with some friends and discuss the festivities. There is just so much to choose from. For instance, tomorrow night should it be Shoko like usual or Hardfango @ Mondo? The best DJs from all over will be out and about and I don't want to miss any surprise performances...
In fact...if I hear anything on the DL I'll let you guys know first!
So check the blog from time to time!!

A Pica Pica Day

What a beautiful day! Finally, por fin!!
I had a nice sleep in... no gym...no errands... I even forwent my shopping expedition and headed straight for the beach. My tan is nothing spectacular just yet...but now it's on its way at least. I had a fabulous lunch at a friend's piso in the gotico. Then met a cute Brit for tapas at La Bodegueta on the Rambla de Catalunya. We had some very tasty jamon and the spiciest pimiento del padron that I've ever tasted in my life!! Right now I'm just resting up before heading off to Opium Mar. I'm gonna get my drink and dance on. I choose champagne as my drink of the night!
Have a good one and maybe I'll see you there!

Summer...Maybe?

I don't want to jinx it, but the weather seems to finally be changing. YAY, I hope so, cause I really need some beach time and soon.
So last night that little birdie was right and there definitely was definitely sushi at the Shiny party at Shoko. A lot of other food as well. Needless to say, it was a great night.
It was really nice waking up to sunshine. I went to the gym for a little run, then had the best paella I've ever had in my life, at a chiringuito on Bogatell beach. mmm mmm.
Tonight I'm gonna take it easy. Maybe watch a few episodes of Sex and the City. Tomorrow's a big day and night. Going to do a bit of shopping, then off to Opium.
Talk to you soon my friends!

Te-killya and Tacos

Hello my little minions!
I am finding it harder and harder to write on a Monday. I just can´t help myself, but to take a three day weekend. HEHE. Yesterday was lovely...very Amerikeen if I do say so myself. I went to La Trajinera Restaurant for Margarita Monday! What is Margarita Monday you may ask...well it´s a time honored tradition for most college students from California and it really can´t be beat. I mean what´s better than a Margarita...cool, refreshing...chock full of Tekillya. I absolutely love Margarita Mondays and luckily some friends of mine have started it up here in BCN...so I think it´ll be a staple in my schedule from now on. The food at La Trajinera was excellent...I mean I have found it almost impossible to find decent Mexican food in this city, but these guys do a mean taco, if I do say so myself!
So tonight I´m heading to Elite Barcelona´s Shiny Tuesday @Shoko! A little bird told me that they might surprise us with some sushi and if you´ve read any of the rest of my blog, you know that I can´t, under any circumstance, turn down sushi. If you feel like joining me just tell the man at the door you´re on VIParina´s list from 12-2:30 and don´t forget the Elite wristband for discounted drinks.
Should be a lot of fun! Fun we all need to have to get over this awful, awful weather.
Talk to you lates...

Let's here it for the Weekend!

Hello my darlings,
I had a lovely day that started with a facial at the Pink Peony, then went onto lunch at DosTrece with a great friend. Tonight should be great...as you all probably have heard, Bob Sinclar is playing at Pacha...so I'm heading over there in just a bit.
This weekend also promises to be fun... I'll be at Elephant tomorrow night and I'm really hoping it doesn't rain cause I can't take it anymore ahhhh.
So my loves, we'll speak later, no?

Rain Rain Go Away...

Seriously...when is this rain going to finally stop? It is ruining my summer...well not really...I'm still having a fabulous time! So the Rita Mabel concert last night was really great, they have such a cool sound. So today has been relatively mellow... My Yoga intructor came by this morning. Then I met a friend for a sandwich at Conesa that was scrumptious as can be and now I'm just hanging out reading all of my favorite blogs before meeting my friends at that fish place behind the old market in the Borne... I can never remember the name...damn...well, you should go if you get the chance. Then after that we're all going to head to Opium Mar, which will definitely be fabulous tonight. I'll be the girl drinking too much champagne in the VIP.
If you want to come you're more than welcome! Just say you're on VIParina's list at the door and they should treat you pretty well.

Girl From Ipanema

The Elite Barcelona party at Shoko was a blast as usual! They had the human statues out and about, which adds a bit of ambiance... and a little hip hop. I drank a bit too much cava, but I'm doing ok...now.
So I had a Brazilian themed day...Started with a Brazilian bikini wax (too much info?) then onto delicious Brazilian empanadas and treats at LolaMora in the Gotico. Now I'm going to go have a few caiparinas before heading off to El Gran Foc to see my friends band "Rita Mabel." Then probably a few more Caiparinas(sp) before heading to bed relatively early cause tomorrow is Addicted at Opium Mar and I want to get a little bronzeada beforehand at the beach.
If you wanna come to Opium Tomorrow just tell them you're on VIParina's list and you'll get in for free!

Have a fabulous night!

Arabian Nights

What a CRAZY weekend! I know I missed my entry yesterday, but I swear I have a great excuse. So...as I told you on Friday...It was my friend Christian's birthday and we were planning a night's stay at a lovely villa on the Costa Brava. So we all met up and he dropped the bomb that he was flying us all to Marrakesh where we stayed in the most beautiful Rhihad and went to some of the most fabulous clubs and just all around had an unbelievable time. The party really never stopped!
It's not going to either...this week's going to be a great one. Here's the lineup:
Tonight, Tuesday, is Shoko, which as I've told you before is the place to be on a Tuesday this summer.
Tomorrow I think I'm hitting up a RitaMabel concert at el Gran Foc.
Thursday I'll definitely be at Opium Mar ( If you want to come just say you're on VIParina's list)
then...well...I can't plan that far ahead...who knows what the weekend will bring!
Have a great night!

This Weekend's Quick List of Hot Places to be

This weekend is going to be crazy and I'm super busy getting ready for all of the festivities so I'm just going to give you an overview of all the best spots to be and be seen!

-Primavera Sound! I'm heading over to the forum soon to see 2 of my favorite bands (Portishead and Catpower) The rest of the festival sounds good, but honestly...I've got better places to be!
Tomorrow I have planned a fabulous birthday party for my fantabulous friend Christian...we will spend the day at a beach house we rented up the coast a ways, then return to Barcelona for what will be, no doubt, a delicious feast at Shunka. Later I think we're going to hit up Roxy Blue (that new place on Rambla de Catalunya). Sunday Brunch will unquestioningly follow...
I hope you all have a divine time as well!

NY Times and Starbucks

Good afternoon,
I've had a relaxing day so far! Last night was a lot of fun at Otto Zutz! I'm not usually to fond of that place, but a little hip hop goes a long way for this NYC girl!
So as you can imagine, my friends and I stayed out quite late getting our groove on. I decided to take the morning off. No shopping, no spa, no gym...just me, my NY times and an iced latte from Starbucks. I did pull myself together to meet up with a friend for lunch at the Academia. We shared the most scrumptious salad. It's a real salad, not one of those ice-berg lettuce, tomato and onion numbers they try and pass off as a salad here.
So now I'm resting again cause I want to be on top of my game tonight. I'm meeting up with some of my peeps at Dos Trece in the Raval, and then hopefully we'll go to Opium Mar. Should be fun...I'll let you know how it went.

Hope you're enjoying this beautiful weather!

Chica Chica Cherry Season

Mmm... It's cherry season in Barcelona and that means that everyone should get down to the Boqueria and pick up a kilo of the scrumptious/sumptuous fruit. I just did. I feel like I've already had the longest day already. It started at 8:30 when my yoga instructor came banging at the door. I love yoga and all, but I feel like such a rude awakening does not lead to a Zen-filled day. In any event, my mood changed as quickly as the weather in Barcelona! I had a fantastic lunch with my friend Megan (we discussed "the boy") at Mama's Cafe in the Raval and then afterwards we did a little shopping at those adorable stores along C/ Doctor Dou. I picked up a few trinkets, nothing too exciting though. Next we stopped off at the Boqueria where we had a field day at one of the fruit and vegetable stands. I have to say....shopping at markets is one of the best parts of living in this city...I mean, I don't think I ever stepped foot into a supermarket in NY (ew I don't even want to imagine it!), but here I can't seem to stay away.
Well, last night at Shoko was a blast as expected. Tonight I'm going to a dinner party at an American friend's apartment then we're all heading to Otto Zutz do get our grooves on to some hip hop!
Hope to see you there!

Facials and Footwear

Hi hi,
So has anyone else noticed that Barcelona pollution is bad for the skin? I have had such issues with both the water, which absolutely has made a good hairday almost impossible to achieve and the pollution, which I am convinced is the reason that I don't have the shiny, bright complexion I am so accustomed to. Anyways... I got a divine facial at the Pink Peony today, they use Dr. Hauschka products, which I love and was introduced to back in NYC. I also got my weekly mani-pedi. This week I'm wearing Malaga Wine.I figured when in Spain...
So after my morning of beauty I strolled down to Portal d'Angel to do some damage on my credit card. How many shoe stores can one city have? I mean I am an experienced shopper if there ever was one and even I can't get through them all. I did pick up a cute pair of espadrilles though! Now I'm just sitting in Bliss, sipping a green tea and writing this. I should run though, cause tonight I'm going to Shiny @ Shoko and I want to look my best because I think this cute boy I know might be there. hehehe
Have a good one and maybe I'll see you at Shoko!

Where for out thou summer?

Good Morning everyone!
What horrible weather this weekend, no?
My tan is not coming along as I would like it to!
So Friday night was definitely one to remember...so much so, in fact that I am a bit fuzzy on the deets. As I told you, my friend was in town from London and we really whooped it up. We had a delicious dinner at Dionysis but didn't end up staying for Dio Bar as the staff were a bit rude and herded us upstairs before we were ready to go. This didn't dampen anyone's mood though. Instead we headed over to Mix which was crowded, but a ton of fun. Next we were on to Rouge, which was not so happening so we made our way up Montjuic for the opening night of Terrrassa. I love Terrrassa! The music was great and the crowd fantastic. Unfortunately it started to rain, which isn't so bad when the weather is warm, but as you all know...It wasn't. Anyways, I can't wait to go again!
Hopefully the weather will get a bit better this week. I want me some Barcelona fun in da sun!
So today should be quite mellow. I met my trainer at Holmes place earlier for a pretty rough workout...it is bikini season after all. Later I'm hooking up with the girls for lunch at the Bagel Shop. Then I think we'll go to some galleries cause I have a big empty space on my wall that just needs to be filled. Next maybe some bikini shopping...anyone seen any cute bikinis this season? If so, let me know where...
I hope you all have a great Monday!!

A Day of Detox

We had so much fun last night! Sipping on champagne in the VIP...it's the only way to do it. It was so much fun in fact that I had to detox all day! What kind of detox you may ask...well, I went to this incredible spa on diagonal and got the most incredible four hand massage. Then spent some time in the steam room and finished it all off with a facial. I have to say...I feel like new and thank goodness for that cause tonight is going to be huge. My friend in town from London for the weekend so we're meeting at Dionysis for dinner then going to have some drinks at Dio bar which I haven't been to yet, but have heard is very cool. And last but certainly not least we will head up Montjuic for the opening night of La Terrrassa! If it doesn't rain that is. I feel like the opening night of Terrrassa means that summer is here! So I'll let you know how it all goes down! Gotta run...

A beautiful day in the Barrio

Buenas tardes mis amores!
Such a late post, I know. But what can I say...I'm a very busy person. So yesterday the CCCB was a no go. Lunch lasted far too long and included a few too many glasses of cava.
HAHA have you figured out yet that I have a weakness for the bubbly stuff?
I did paint a picture of the view of my terrace when I got home, so I figure that counts as something cultural or at least artistic.
Anyways, I had a rather quiet evening. I went to my friend Nico's for a bit of Pica Pica, then we had a few drinks at Ginger ( this adorable little bar right near Plaza San Just).
Don't you worry though...VIParina hasn't gone soft in her partying ways. Tonight is Opium Mar. I've been a couple of times on Thursday night and it's been so much fun everytime!

I'd love it if you could make it!
Just tell the doorman you're on VIParina's list.

Ok I'm of to beautify myself...

In an artsy kind of mood

Goodmorning, or afternoon should I say. hehe. Last night turned out to be an absolute blast! The art exhibit titled "Blanco y Negro" had some really beautiful pieces and the crowd could have been taken out of some Fellini film i.e. Older women dressed to impress sipping white wine and smoking cigarrettes. It was a trip. Then we were off to Shoko where we stuffed ourselves with hors d'oeuvres and drank a bit too much cava! The place was packed and I think will be the place to be Tuesdays this summer.
Well...I have to run and meet some friends at the Reina de Raval for lunch. Then, since I'm feeling like some more culture, to the CCCB for the photography show, "Post-it City". I'll let you know how it all goes.

Dos Besos,

p.s. if you want to check out the exhibition "Blanco y Negro" it's at the La Galleria Ignacio de Lassaletta, Rambla de Catalunya, 20.

Art, Sushi and Cocktails...Oh My!

"Today is all a preparation for tonight!" Hehe, I bet some philosopher has said that and if not, then I claim it as a VIP arina-ism. So as I told you yesterday, tonight I'm attending an art exhibition which should be a blast as almost everyone I know, keyword 'almost', will be there. Afterwards we're all heading over to Shoko for a bit of dancing and imbibing. Wanna come? Well... I guess you're invited. Just say you're on Elite's list at the door. If you come between 10:30 and 12:30 you'll even get a full menu dinner and drinks for free!
Hope to see you there!!

Monday Blues

I don't know about you...but I feel a kind of sadness at the passing of every weekend. To remedy this melancholy I take Monday as a day of complete self worship and pampering. I was woken up today by my yoga instructor, Eden, pounding on the door. After a rough hour of exercise, I went for my almost weekly appointment at The Pink Peony for a mani-pedi. While I was there I also indulged in an eyelash tinting session. After all... I do have a lot to look great this week!
After my treatments I made a few calls and got 3 of my girlfriends to meet me for a sushi lunch at Kibuka. I absolutely love Kibuka! I only order the same 2 things every time I go, but damn they are DELICIOUS!
Later I ran over to BCBG to pick up a dress I had pre-ordered for tomorrow night's art opening and now, well, now I'm just going to curl up with the US version of Vogue, sip some cava and rest up for the week's festivities!

VIParina in Barcelona

Allow me to introduce myself, I'm VIParina and I'm what you would call...well...the quintessential IT girl.
What was that? You haven't heard of me?
Hah you don't even know, do you.
I am the girl you wanted to get to know, last night, at the disco. The one who walked, without a reservation, into the restaurant you need to book 6 months in advance, and got the best table in the house. The one who always whisks to the front of the line and gets dos besos from the doorman and instant entrance.
Essentially...the girl everyone wants to be or be friends with.

Want to get to know me a little better? Well then...read on. If not, it's your loss.

Dos besos,
